Wissington Charolais

John and Jenny Rix founded the herd in 2005 on an arable farm in the Stour Valley on the Essex/Suffolk border.

Under the management of Darren Knox our herd consists of 80 breeding females.

Selective drafts of females from the Darshams, Seawell, Barksore, Rumsden and Moyness herds and bulls from Thrunton, Blelack and Goldies form our original nucleus.

Our broad genetic base and selective use of AI gives us real opportunity to produce progeny of exceptional quality and longevity.

Our cattle are halter trained to be quiet, docile and easy to handle.  The herd is spring and autumn calving, winer-housed and fed on straw, silage and home-produced cereals with only protein being bought in.

Breedplan recording, membership of Hi- Health Scheme and 48 month TB testing completes our customer assurance.

A commercial suckler herd of South Devons run along side to demonstrate the terminal sire qualities of our Charolais bulls.

We are proud of our cattle and welcome visitors to come and view the herd and see young bulls and heifers available for sale. Please don't hesitate to contact Darren: 07500904462.
